View Full Version : Does anyone happen to have a Necchi Model 537L?
because the thread in mine keeps catching, preventing me from making things. I think it has something to do with the bobbin, but I am not entirely sure, but it is quite aggravating nonetheless. So if you can help in any way, that would be much appreciated.
With all due respect,
THM

I don't have a necchi, but wish I did can you describe the problem a little better?
well, i can sew fine for a while and then the machine just stops and makes a whirring sound. and i lift the presser foot and try to remove the fabric but it has like fifty stitches in one spot and all of the thread is tangled up in the bobbin area. and i have no idea what's going on.

my sewing machine did that to...I would be sewing it made a wierd sound and then the bobbin strings were all messed up....I would just cut the strings out and keep going....i only did it like twice i think....then it stopped i hope your problems get solved
yeah i did that too, i cut the bobbing thread and kept sewing, but then where it made the noise, the stitch was messed up on the underside, and then after a couple more stitches or maybe a minute or two, it would catch again.
i am seriously clueless as to how this is happening, i'm pretty sure i have everything threaded correctly, but i'm not one hundred percent sure.
but thanks for the regards. i hope it gets solved as well.

I had the exact same problem. Does it look like this?

My old machine did this too and I noticed it did it on certain fabrics. Is this the case?
If so...it might be your tension. If you've fixed that then your bobbing might be warpped. Meaning unbalanced. Try another bobbin maybe. If not. Try a metal bobbing with a better quality thread...see if this helps hun.
Ok if by doing all the above and still no change...then sweety I suggest you take it in for a lube/tuneup;) your oils might be drying out.
And google if your threading the maching correctly too ok hun:)
You can take a pic of your machine and could see if its threaded right if u want k. Process of elimination right hun....Pm me if you need help k.
yeah that is exactly what it looks like, rainshadow!
and also i don't think it's with certain fabrics, it's with every fabric i've tried. and i've messed with the tension settings too. and i've also replaced the bobbin, both were metal, and i've replaced the thread as well.
i might just give up on this machine because i've recently inherited an old singer, not sure what model, but i just have to go get it. but thank you to everyone who has replied, and if anyone has a solution, i would still like to know what's going on.
with all due respect, THM

Do you lower the presser foot when you thread the needle? I used to have the same problem, and it stopped when I stopped doing that.
no, when i thread the needle the presser foot is up.
thank you for the suggestion though.

I'm thinking this is sort of a common problem with sewing machines, cause you're the third person who has this problem that I've helped.
Okay, so I think your problem is this:
See this knobby little plastic thing circled here?
http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o126/callingkitties/macrochallenge020-1.jpg
The thread bunching happens when the knob gets pushed past the metal thing circled here:
http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o126/callingkitties/macrochallenge020-2.jpg
All you need to do is push the black bobbin-holder thing to the left until the knob is to the left of the metal bit.
Tell me if this makes no sense, I can put a video on youtube of pushing it back to the right position! Something tells me it might come in handy...
Also, if you're sewing and the knob happens to slide to the right again, all you have to do is scooch the fabric over, open the case and slide the knob to the left again, then replace the case and keep sewing. It also happens less if you clean your machine more often, so make sure to do that.
