Does dying your jeans work if the coffee isn't expresso?
I went out to buy some but totally spaced on which kind.
Also, if I wanted to work with tea, what kind would work best?
There is nearly every type of tea imaginable in my house

I've never tried it, but i would think black tea is the best~
haha, are you from a tea family too? lol the only thing i drink is tea and a little milk in the morning... water is just for road trips and restaurants

my friend and i tried dying her jeans
we bought the cheapest coffee at walmart
it wasnt espresso but it worked
they are a funky brown colour
but the weird thing is
the coffee only dyed the front of the pants and skirt
we submerged them in the bucket/coffee but it only dyed the front
anyone know how to fix this????

One mistake I noticed when it comes to jeans is that if they aren't 100% cotton they don't dye as well. Maybe your jeans are partly synthetic.

But a blend isn't likely to be cotton front and synthetic rear, it's generally a mix - a blend.
How were they arranged in the bucket?
Were they folded at all?
Did you disturb them and stir the mixture?

hey!
i just recently dyed a pair of too-blue jeans, using regular instant coffee and a bunch of expired black tea (wasn't much of the coffee left, so i added the tea to make sure the dye would be dark enough). came out a nice brown!
the only thing is, the dye came out kind of blotchy. i think maybe the bucket needed more liquid in it, and perhaps i should have been stirring the jeans around instead of just letting them sit. also i left the coffee+tea-filled sock in with the jeans, which may have added to uneven dying... but all in all i am happy with the results!

my came out the same as when i put them in
the only thing that changed a bit was the inside of the pockets have the slightest hint of tan
I think my mistake was when i put detergent in the washing machine
will that really make a difference?

i heard that starbucks gives away its used coffee grounds first come first serve. i dont know whether they can be used to dye things, but you wouldnt have to pay for them, and they wouldnt be thrown away. also, you can use the grounds for composting. http://www.starbucks.com/aboutus/compost.asp <---found the link here
