Okay..
My cousin did this over the summer (except with cursive)
Basically, RETEACH yourself the alphabet... do it over and over and over until you get used to however you want your handwriting to look like
Don't rush through it, or you'll just go back to how it was before
I used to have the worst handwriting in junior high. So bad. Now it's very nice. What I did was just slow down. I was writing too fast. Write really slowly for a while until it becomes more comfortable for you and then you can write faster. But even now when I try to write too quickly it gets bad.

I designed a way to write in my head (that really sounded weird) and just started doing it... But I wasn't trying to change my neat-ness just the style of it, so I don't know if this will help.

Ok, first of all, NO teacher has the right to make fun of their students, ESPECIALLY not to other students! As a future high school teacher, I want to tell you that you have EVERY right to go to the principal and complain. Your teacher is being very inappropriate about the situation. If a teacher has an issue with it, it is their job to talk to you about it, in private, and offer you advice on how to improve the situation.
Now, I want to say GOOD FOR YOU for wanting to fix the problem instead of giving up! Seriously, that's GREAT! I second the idea of reteaching yourself the alphabet, and slowing down. Part of the problem lies in the fact that kids no longer have to write as often--almost all papers are required to be typed, even in younger students.
I have really sloppy handwriting too, but I always got by simply by slowing down when I did homework. I also write my letters a little larger than most people, so that they're easier to read. Not HUGE, just not teeny tiny. And if it's really that big of an issue, you might start typing up all your homework, and having your parents write a note at the end saying that you are tired of being picked on for your handwriting, so you decided to type it instead. That should get the point across, and let you assert your power as a student... and be just a little cheeky! :)
I do hope that helped you!

To add on to the advice given, you need to practice a lot. A lot of people now-a-days are typing much more than they write, so that cuts out a lot of practice.

actually, that just makes me mad.
reteaching yourself sounds great.
but i would in site of the teacher, make fun of their handwriting, or just be extremely sloppy with it in their class.
you teacher is an A**.
i would file a complaint.
and trash that teacher.
but i get really bishy when im mad. so, maybe you should disregard my comments.

ooh. nother idea.
maybe you can print a copy of the alphabet in a font you like on the computer and just trace it over and over.

Okay . . my husband had this problem too . .
This is what you do . .
you go to an craft store or an office supply store . .
you know those paper tablets from grade school?
the ones that have the connect-the-dots alphabet?
that is exactly what you need.
You just need to reprogram your brain . .
It is HARD but . . you can do it.
TIP: try to refrain from writing how you normally do for a couple of weeks . . if you have to write something use a computer/laptop.
