You guys, GRR! I'm sitting here listening to my next door neighbor talk loudly on the phone on his lanai about how "it's not [his] fault, the girls just start flirting with [HIM] first..." about his wife being pissed (having just had a baby) and wanting to leave him.

To make the situation even MORE classy, he's pausing to shout at his dog, possibly maybe just smacked him (from the sound of that yipe and the guy yelling "Shut up, dumb dog! Go -away-!")

This dog is just bouncing around all over, barking, trying to get his attention. He's left outside for HOURS and hours a day, living in a small enclosed cement slab porch with some ripped up chairs, empty dog bowls and his own mess. Right outside the fence is a dog park, and he must be watching all these other dogs out to play ALL day, trapped behind the gate.

When I first talked to the neighbors about him, they said when he was barking I should "just hit him". I've gone over and asked if I could take him out for a walk or to run around (since she's busy with the baby) and things like that, but I'm always declined!

Finally, I just reported them about the fecal matter and him going for hours without food or water. I think my housing development is going to send a note. I wonder if there's a way I can spy to see if they've actually hit him.

BAH! What I don't understand is WHY the hell do you get a dog, if you don't smurfing want to take care of it?? That poor dog is over there, dying for his owner's attention and the guy is just irritated. WHY do you think he's that hyper, you dumb&*$ ?? Because he hasn't had attention ALL day!

Maaaaan, I am SO sick and tired of people who neglect their pets! I'm sure you'd all agree with me. Grr! If you can think of anything else I can do, let me know. Maybe you've dealt with a situation like this before?

Once I get the okay that we're moving out of this house, I'm gunna march over, knock on their door, and give them a piece of my mind about how they treat that animal! So far I've tried to be super friendly so I don't sound like a nag-- in hopes that they'd think I was being a helpful neighbor and do something like let me walk him about... But grr, again! Neglect is just as bad as the verbal, and possibly physical, abuse. Makes me mad as hell!

Dogs Abuse (http://www.myspace.com/cuntcoreuk)?

But yeah... It's sick how some people treat animals.

If it's so bad, call animal welfare.

See, I can't watch shows like Animal Precinct on Animal Planet because of people like that. They make me want to punch my television.

I have to agree with Coffee. If it doesn't get better by the time you move out of there, call the Human Society and the police and report their sorry a$$es. Heck, do it now! Save the dog from the loneliness and abuse. And good for you for trying to be helpful to the dog. Not the people, but the dog. Poor thing. If I were able to, I'd offer to take the dog with me when I moved. It amazes me how most people don't seem to understand that dogs aren't things and shouldn't be treated as such.

Stupid people.
I shake my fist.

u could call spca they can help
i know i dont understand y ppl get animals and dont even take care of them. they have every right to live and eat just like ppl. my mom thinks animals arent like ppl but they r. theyre living 2. i have 4 cats and im suppose 2 only have one cuz we're renting and the lanlord doesnt like pets. so my mom just thinks i can let my cats outside and do whatever. but theres cats out there with rabies and stuff or my cats will get run over. i told her im not giving them away no matter what
sucks about that dog
animal cruelty pisses me off!

just call the spca and file a complaint. they can help you. or find the legal actions necessary to have the dog taken away.
the only thing is, with the spca, they confront the owner, and the owners usually start showing the dog affection immediately.
but maybe you can ask the owners if you could take the dog off their hands and then drop it off at a rescue or spca.
i foster dogs, so finding a local rescue that can help, by taking the dog, or asissting in the complaint, is a major benefit.
but in the mean time, may i reccomend you put a bowl of water out on the edge of their property? i just wouldnt give it any food, because dogs can get sick very easily when changing its food.

Keep calling the police and the spca (or whatever you have in your area).
You are not going to change him, so might as well try and get that dog taken away.

I love dogs, and hate hearing about this kind of thing, but I am even more worried for that kid. :/

Bah, those people. My housing company accidentally sent -me- the letter they meant to send the neighbors. Siiiiigh.

Unfortunately, I'm allergic to dogs and actually I'm trying to get a copy of my history saying that because if I produce that note, I can get moved to a new location. It'd be really um.... weird... uh... if I had a dog when they came. So I can't really offer to take him. And I also doubt that they'd give him to me. I've started documenting the conditions and when I see it going on and what I see. That way I'll have something for the group I call. :(

Thanks for all the tips. I think I'll definitely be calling someone.

I actually dont see most of that as animal abuse (seeing as I let 3 of my dogs hang outside 24/7, but me and my family treat them quite well, and my dogs are prolly sick of the attention we give, but they're more of gaurd dogs than anything.) But then again I read like two lines >,<

But if you really are having problems with it, like everyone is saying call the SPCA or Police. Theres nothing you can do...

'cept take the dog and burn down their house...

ugh. i hate loud animal abusing neighbors. well, actually, i don't have any animal abusing neighbors, but i do have loud ones.

their lanai used to be a hula studio, so it's built in a way that all the noise gets directed straight towards our house (across the lane). they play the same reggae songs a million times on the loudest setting possible, and then shout over it.

but it's okay, cuz i have huge speakers mounted on my wall hooked up to my record player. when their music gets too loud, i just put on the wall by pink floyd.:D
