Ok so I have a bunch of really cool bandanas I have collected over the years and I dont use them. What can I do with them?

well anything really, its basically a ton of spare fabric, so , a dress, a shirt, a jacket, a messenger bag, a bed spread or quilt, just sew some bandannas together to make a piece of fabric large enough to make what you want. sooo really anything 0.o :D anything specific in mind?

Not sure if you're a boy or a girl (didn't say in yr profile), so apologies if girly ideas won't work for you...

I've seen DIY halters done with really big bandannas, or 2 bandannas stitched together. Also, I think using bandannas on a jeans skirt would look kinda cute. Might be a bit country, though. Or, if you're into the camo thing, that'd look cute. I think it helps to look at bandannas as "diamond-shaped" and not just big squares. (just rotating the square 45 degrees) - it might give you more ideas.

Oh, or a quilt top. Or - this might be cool - stitch a bunch of 'em together for a really nice random curtain for your room. I think thore are these curtain uh...ring thingies? That just clip onto the curtain. I think. Or just fabric loops to go over the curtain rod.

bandanas.... I second that throw pillow idea... hmm, for decorating your room: i'd suggest stapling one on a piece of cork to make it a better looking cork board, i would stitch together random pieces of bandanas to make it look a quilt and upholster a seat of something.. lamp. ummmm a tie... lol, idk

Yes! I love your ideas!

You could use them to cover boring picture frames?
Patch your old jeans, jackets, shirts, shoes, undies, etc.
Make clothes and accessories for your stuffed toys and dolls... action figures!

Another to add to the stretched bandanna idea over the picture frames, how about art work? Just stretch them over the backing so that a cool part of the bandanna design is displayed through the glass. Sure it's not really fashion but still, it rocks my socks. :D

What kind of bandanna's do you have?

I know a gal who took her bandannas, tore them into strips, and tied them onto her flip-flops. They actually turned out really good. I also like the throw-pillow idea. ^^

sorry if you're a guy and don't really find this helpful.

my friend has a dress that she bought (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v39/magical_angel8/IMG_0504.jpg) a while back and i'm totally stealing the design from her. it's a halter top with a bandana skirt. it's four scarves sewn together to make a band, then sewn to the bodice of the dress.

duct tape dude!

OK - I actually made myself a message board (er, like a corkboard. Not like a website.heh) with cardboard, packing tape, fabric, and staples, and some thumbtacks to hold the corners.

http://farm1.static.flickr.com/166/341462383_5b9b7aa696.jpg

It came out really great! I have this one at work, and a green one at home. And it's practically free. Moving boxes, wine boxes, or those big ones from Amazon.com are really great for this project.

The how-to is in the book Craftivity - the instructions used to be on www.supernaturale.com (http://www.supernaturale.com) ...I think they took the tutorial off the site once they published it in the book? If I find it I'll post it.

But, I can give a quick tute -

1) Cut 2 -3 equal sized pieces of clean cardboard, with a boxcutter, without cutting your fingers. Any shape you want.

2) Use the packing tape to tape around the edges and hold them together.

3) Make sure you have enough fabric to cover the cardboard "corkboard" you just made, with enough fabric to pull the fabric ends to the back. I'm guessing if you use bandannas, you'll have to use more than one, if you make a big board.

4) Use a stapler you can swing open, or thumbtacks, or a staple gun without stapling yourself. Pull the fabric ends tight, and staple/tack in place

5) When you're done, the front of the board should look nice and smooth.

6) Hang it up! You can use nails. I used the handle of a little gift bag that matched the color of my fabric. (It was actually the white handle from a Victoria's Secret shopping bag. Heh.)

***Edit: More about Craftivity Here:

Tsia's a really nice person. The book also has stuff like glass etching, moss graffiti, and making DIY panties from old t-shirts.

For some unisex ideas:

You could cut a design (kinda like a stencil) out of the bandana fabric and sew it onto a t-shirt, or bag or your jeans.

You could use the tutorial and make the ninja gloves/arm warmers from the How To Tuesday episode from the show.

(my personal favourite) Cut them to shape and sew them over pockets.

This is probably the craziest, but a friend one had a bunch of scraps left over from a bandana she'd used on a t-shit, so she cut thin strips, sewed along the edges while inside out, turned them around the right way and used them as shoelaces. Anything is possible with bandanas. ANYTHING!

I tried out sewing a bandana to my back pocket of some jeans, and I really like it, but that's just me.

you could sew them to the inside of the bottom of your pants leg so if you ever roll them up some, its fancy bandanna.

or maybe you could make bottle cap jewelry and glue a smaller circle onto it so you have a nice border around it too.

hmmmm ..... i really like that idea ........

Wouldn't the bandanna material be a little thin for a bathing suit though?
