Hi! Second project post, but have been admiring others' projects for a long time! I made this infinity dress from a $2, thrift store bedsheet, queen sized. It's super soft, and although I am not completely satisfied with how the hem is acting, I looove the color!

I made it from Rostitchery's tutorial, found here: http://rowena.typepad.com/rostitchery/infinity-dress.html

Now for the pictures! Feel free to tell me what you think, this is only my second garment (dress, shirt, etc. not purse or hat) constructed from scratch.

Crud! Through some twist of irony, I did not even check PT this month. Oh well...your all capitals praise more than makes up for it :D Thanks a lot, I'm still experimenting with tying techniques.

It's a great dress. I plan on making it myself sometime, i've had the link favorited for quite sometime now!
Glad it turned out!!

I like the color. I think if you try making another dress, I'd use a stretchier/drapier material, because I think it'd "flow" better than cotton. Very nice job, tho.

Great Job, I agree about the stretch

Thanks you guys, for the compliments and the suggestions. ladyjanewriter and mlssfshn, I'm thinking I agree about the stretch too. The stucture of this one is nice, but the nature of the dress is better complimented by something drapier.

To ALL of you, your compliments mean a lot. And I'd just like to state that I am thrilled to be the first Project madonnaontherocks winner :P

Wow, I really like it!
I've never seen an infinity dress made with a non-stretch material. It came out very well though!

really like this dress alot, great for a gal like me with curves. is the top part a separate piece?

Thanks :) That's part of the reason I wanted to make it so much, to accomidate my curves. Basically what is is, is a circle skirt w/ waistband, and two overlapping straps wide enough to cover your boobs. The straps are sewn on by one end, and the top part of the dress is made by wrapping and tying the straps in defferent ways around yourself. If you're thinking of making one, you should really check out the link right above the pictures--it's really clear to follow, and shows some great variations. If you don't hem the edges, it shouldn't take more than an hour or so! Go for it!
