This is a semi complete / community project that Im doing to help out with the folks who have lost everything to the bushfires that are still burning in Victoria, Australia.

These are my finished contributions...but they will be assembled into quilts

The pattern is called the maveric or wonky star

Anywho....

the butterflies on this patch glow in the dark, and my name and email address are embroidered on the patch

And the rest of the blocks I have so far

Sorry if the info regarding this project was put in the wrong place (ie the questions and tips section) cause I wasnt sure exactly where to put it.

If anyone wants more info on this project...and believe me its not hard to do....you can visit my blog, as Ive typed in all the info

The link to my blog and info are here (http://knittyknittykitty.blogspot.com/2009/03/brushfire-quilt-project.html)

Keep in mind....you dont have to make the entire 25 squares. Even one is enough to help out.

I used quilting cotton for these...got a good deal at Fabricland on the snowflake print too...its about $2.50 a yard. Some of the other prints I got at 4$ a yard.

I'd just like to thank you!

I'm a Victorian and even today we are watching the weather as we've been warned that the winds will be very strong, and we've been warned that they will further spread the existing fires. (As if we need any more fire!)

My family has been effected by the fires- and I can't even begin to tell you how horrible "Black Saturday" has been.

So from the bottom of my Victorian heart- Thank you so much for caring enough about us to do something. It is appreciated more then you'll ever know.

I know you guys can use all the help you can get out there. We even have some of our firefighters over there helping you out...or from what i read in the news. I told my bosses about this so that i could get my comission so i could get supplies to make more squares. they thought all the fires were out...I had to explain to them that I knew you guys were in for a wind storm that could pick up the fires again...the sales person made sure I got the funds to get the material by the end of friday...hence the pretty snowflake material.

I also have been hooking up with another blogger from out here in the scarborough area of toronto, and they are going to be sending me stars, to send out to my mum in law to get things in order....more stars will be comming your way.

If you have a blogger, feel free to follow my blog if you like. I realize not everyone is into quilting...but you'd be surprized as to the really cool stuff and ideas you can find when you look....especially us canadians cause it is BLOODY FREEZING up here right now....I havent been able to get warm since i woke up. (the office really needs to turn the heat up a bit more...big windows=less heat)
