Alright, so a while back I received a poofy, orange peasant skirt. It was way too small and so I tossed it into my closet. When I remembered it I got an idea of a way I could possibly wear it again...

The skirt, an old top and a piece of scrap orange fabric I used for it...

The end result, using some of the fabric from the shirt for a belt.

I cut out the zipper and added some stretch fabric basically, also added straps although it fits well enough that I don't actually need them... The material was a pain to work with, there were 2 layers and tore easily. It didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped, but at least I can wear it now :)

hey that's cute!! i was gonna make something like that with a similar skirt, but my mom would kill me because she thinks i'm ruining all my clothes XD
well, some of it she doesnt mind, but today i made a halter cami out of a shirt i wore like twice and she flipped out so... i dunno what she'll say about a skirt i still wear around the house where no one can see me~

Thanks :) I know what you mean though, I don't think I'll ever come up with a use for the purple pleather dress they got me. Did I mention how thankful I was that they don't buy me clothes any more? Hehe, orange is definitely one of my fave colours too.
Thanks! Hehe, moms have such a limited perspective, after all, you're not ruining your clothes, you're making them better. Ah well, I bet your mom will figure out that having a creative daughter is good, eh?

yea yesterday almost immediately after criticizing my cami she decided to praise me for being creative and that "i used to sew when i was your age too". she basically contadicted herself so i'm not too sure if she supports me or not ~
she'll get it eventually ;)

Orange is definitely one of my favorite colors. I like green better. But that's REALLY cute. Yeah... I started to alter some of my clothes yesterday... the first time I'm actually doing anything with any of my designs I draw. (wish me luck!) and my mom FLIPPED out on me. They're really old jeans, so it's not like I was wearing them anymore.*shrugs* She hates what I draw, too... so I really don't count her opinion anymore. xD
Currently I am hoping to turn my T-shirt into an off-the shoulder top and use some denim material as detached sleeves. I am absolutely in LOVE with detached sleeves.

I'm not sure theres much you can do with purple pleather in terms of clothing, maybe it would be best suited as some type of accessory?

iamtyping-Sounds really cool, and I bet after a bit your mom won't freak out, especially when you can show her some of your fabulous designs. That denim sleeves top sounds so cute.
emerald-I know, I think I might've gotten rid of it already anyways though, which is no great loss to me.

You're top looks awesome!
To everyone with difficult parents Take Heart! I've put my parents through an aweful lot the past few years and they still back me up. In my experience, so long as you show passion for what you are doing, they'll support you. They might not like it....but they'll still support you in whatever you want to...even if it means "destroying" perfectly good clothes...If you're happy, they're happy.
