Does anyone know of a pattern for making moccasins out of fabric? Also, i'm concerned about the bottoms wearing out, so if anyone has ideas on how to make them more sturdy, that'd be appreciated as well.

Cool idea. I suppose modifying old flipflops for the sole, even old shoes. You'd need a strong needle and sewing machine, or you'd have to do it by hand.

I was randomly checking instructables before this, and was looking at slippers...

I didnt make them (although i want to!!!) but hopefully this is similar to what you want to make.
also, i suggest if you do that pattern, that you cut more foot-like shapes on the side pieces, so that the top of the shoe fits right
(if any of that makes sense? Im kinda making up my own terminology i think...)

I like the one on Instructables, but I also think this one from Craft magazine is WAY cute...

Hmmmm. OK, I know that there are a couple of patterns out there for slippers made of felted wool sweaters? Hold on, I gotta google this.

***Edit: Elf Shoes! I dare ya. It's baby booties sized, so you'd haveta upsize the pattern.

And I think that 99 Ways to re-do your jeans book has slippers? They tell you to double-up on the layers of denim for the sole.

Sorry, I blanked out on the name of that last book. It's:

99 ways to cut, sew, & Deck Out Your Denim

http://www.amazon.com/Ways-Cut-Deck-Your-Denim/dp/030735170X/ref=cm_lmf_tit_13_rsrssi0/002-3964603-3737663

It's pretty easy to track down in the craft section of your bookstore (or, it should be). It's got mostly girl-friendly projects, a couple of "unisex" projects. The slippers one is pretty adaptable to being guy-friendly, I think.

Well maybe you can use some old slipper socks, the kind that you see in the mall during Christmas time http://www.xs-stock.co.uk/shopimages/products/normal/totes_Navy.jpg with that sticky no-slip tread, just cut out the bottoms and sew them to your own slippers.

Martha Stewart has instructions on no-sew slipper socks (http://www.marthastewart.com/portal/site/mslo/menuitem.0e0eb51a2e6b5ad593598e10d373a0a0/?vgnextoid=4437d0f19132f010VgnVCM1000003d370a0aRCR D&autonomy_kw=slippers&rsc=ns2006_m8) - that might be a good idea for the bottom of your moccasins and she also has instructions for felt slippers (http://www.marthastewart.com/portal/site/mslo/menuitem.0e0eb51a2e6b5ad593598e10d373a0a0/?vgnextoid=5fd9ce908332f010VgnVCM1000003d370a0aRCR D&autonomy_kw=slippers&rsc=ns2006_m2).
