I made this dress out of this awesome red/orange medium weight sorta knit fabric I found at the Habitat for Humanity resale store for $1!!!!
I took an old white t-shirt to line the bodice and do the cuffs.
I've been searching for a pattern like this for forever and I can't find a free one, so I decided to wing it.
It's real simple actually.
All I did, was measure from the bottom of my bra to my knees, and cut the fabric (it might've been a yard and a half or two yards) across, then I took a wife beater that fits me well and traced the top half of it for the bodice, and cut out a square neck.
I sewed the white t, and the bodice together to make the lining, then I took an already used sleeve pattern but instead of exactly tracing it, I drew it slightly bigger so I'd have a little poochy sleeve.
Then I took the sleeves of the white t-shirt and I cut a strip to measure around my arm. (I had to double the t-shirt fabric because It was sheer when stretched) And a strip to go around the waist.
I sewed it all together, and I hemmed it a little shorter than I wanted, but I'm going today to buy some white satin and some lace to sew under the skirt part to make it longer and to even out the contrasting white.
If anyone knows where I can find a free baby doll style dress pattern let me know please!!!
Oh and if you want the pattern i suppose i could draw one out and post it up. so you can print it out on your printer. just let me know!
