i kinda like it as is. it looks neat raw. that said, you could sew a line of straight stitching 1/2 an inch from the edge to keep it stable and from stretching out of shape.

hrrm I would add a cuff to the bottom. To do so...you basically just take a 4 inch tall by whatever the bottom of your shirt's measurement is and fold it in half (So it becomes 2 inches tall instead of 4 inches tall) Then sew it to the bottom of your hem. You can do the same thing with the cuff, or just hem the cuff. I think Addie-Marie's hoodie tutorial shows how to finish cuffs and the bottom of sweat shirts

you need some ribbed knit fabric in a color of your choice..that's how you get that finished look that they have on the ones in the store...
you just take it and say you want a 1 inch neckline..so you take 2.5 inches of the ribbing by what ever the measurement of the neck hole is (and maybe subtract an inch or so cause that stuff is STRETCHY) you fold it over wrong sides together and then stitch it to the neck lining up all the raw edges and having your ribbing on the right side (non fuzzy) of the sweat shirt and sew..you can use a serger..or a zig zag stitch or a straight stitch reinforced with a zig zag to hold all the raw edges together...

you can do this with the cuffs and waist band as well..

A knit garment -like your sweatshirt, really needs a knit neckline so it will still stretch to put it on. Use ribbing or self fabric even - but the important thing to know is that you cut it in a 2:3 ratio. So - if your neck is 30" around, the fabric length you cut for the ribbing should be 20", etc. Stitch the ribbing into a circle. Quarter mark the neckline, and then quarter the ribbing. Match the quarter marks, then stretch the ribbing to fit as you stitch. Serge to finish the seam, or even a wide zig zag. But, you don't have to do anything to it if you don't want to -as that's the neat thing about knits - they don't ravel. You can also stitch the seam allowance down to the sweatshirt - and I would recommend a STRETCH Twin Needle - 4.0/75 size. Twin needles are 2 needles on one shaft, and since there is still of course only one bobbin, tat bobbin thread zig zags on the bottom - yielding a stretchy stitch - a good thing on a knit.
You can also use the twin stretch needle for the hem, but I do recommend first stabilizing where you will stitch with bias or stretch fusible tape - or a strip of fusible interfacing.
