been on a quilting kick lately...here's the blocks to a sampler quilt I've been wanting to make (a sampler quilt is where each of the blocks are different).
I started sewing them Friday and worked all day...then some on Sunday and finished the last 3 yesterday. include all kinds of techniques, there are LOTS of triangles (they are NOT my favorite shape to sew) and some setting in of curves (was surprisingly easier than I was expecting) and some traditinal blocks. finished they are going to be 12 inches square (I had to fudge a little on this and add borders to some blocks that didn't call for one to make it the right size...shhhh!) there are 19 blocks shown (there will be 20 but I'm not pleased with my flying geese, so I"m gonna give it one more shot..and if that doesn't work find another block to replace it).the blocks are all set in muslin or white fabrics (unless the block doesn't require a "background") so each block in itself is coordinated but from one block to the next it's a free for all since I just used scraps from my stash (I didn't use a piece of fabric larger than a fat quarter to make any of the blocks) the plan is to put a sashing and inner border made up of scraps of fabric (to tie in the scrappyness of the blocks and give the quilt a cohesive look) in varied widths from about 1 inch to 6 inches but all the same length of about 3 inches (finished) so it'll be a while before I get all nearly 700 inches of that made!! and I want an outer border of like 6 inches (finished) of muslin with an applique of flowers and vines going round the whole quilt. and finally a solid border (if I can bring my self to use that much of a solid fabric!!). I have high hopes of hand quilting this when it's done, but we'll see...that's probably a good year away. finished this quilt should be about queen size.
anyway it's been REALLY fun to make these blocks, and really challenging too! any hooo I just felt like bragging....cause they're just so pretty!!
should be within the first 2 pages of pics
