I made these with Salt Dough. I rolled the dough out flat and then cut them with cookie cutters. I baked them on low for about 2 hours. once cooled, I painted them. Then I sprayed them with varnish. They were cheap, easy and fun to make. Hope you like them. They sort of look folk artsy. I really like them, even though they had a tone of imperfections.

thanks everyone! I enjoyed making them. Salt Dough is easy to make and they are not brittle, though they are hard. Here is the recipe

4 c. flour
1 c. salt
1 1/2 c. water

Just mix this all together. knead the dough for 7-10 minutes then roll the dough out. Cut desired shapes , use a toothpick to punch a hole at the top, and bake at 250 to about 2 hours until they harden. Once completely cooled, you can paint them. I used acrylic paint. Once the pain dries, I sprayed them with shellac. Thanks again.

I made some myself this christmas and I even cut out some letters, painted them and glued them on pieces of carton and used them as a kind of christmas cards ^_^
