Why not take cellphone camera pics of clothes or clothing details you like in stores? Try not to go bonkers so security doesn't tail you for acting weird.

EXAMPLE:

Here's an pic I took at a Target store yesterday - I was VERY surprised when I looked at the dress really closely!

I thought the ruffles on the front of this Mossimo dress were cute, and thought, "Oo! I can do that!"

But, but but look! Those edges are RAW! It's freaking fraying!!!:eek::eek::eek:

It's really a detail any ThreadBanger with some sewing experience could do. I think the ruffles are just stitched onto the front, but the dress is lined so you don't see the stitches.

So, try it sometime - if you're in a store and go "pfft, I can do that!" when you look at an item of clothing, take a cellphone pic so you can remember what it looks like! (Without freaking out security.)

That's a good idea! If you don't want to freak out security you could also say you're trying it on and take the picture in the change room... If that's not too weird considering some phones make that camera noise.

I do that a lot because I'll see something that I only like on element of, and then I go sketch it later, so I can clear up space on my phone.

Good idea! I think I'll upload mine to my flickr, too. :)

My old phone I had to email them to myself, which costed money unless I had a package... My new phone has a mini SD card which came with an adapter so you can put it in your cam in order to upload it to your pc. That's all I know.

i can bluetooth it to my laptop. most new macs have a bluetooth feature... i dont know about pc's.

also, when i had tmobile, there was a feature that lets you send your phone images to their site and it hosts them, you just need to set up your account (its free)

Great idea! I hadn't thought that either... I've done the same things with some books which have seemed interesting but haven't had the money to by at that time (or which I knew I would find cheaper online). Thanks, the simplest ideas are always the best :D

you can always tell people who bother you about taking pictures that you're going to get a second opinion from, say, a friend or parent about buying it. or just say you want your mom to buy it for you, but she has to see it first.
