So, this isn't exactly a hat... I made it as a "test hat", more or less a small scale hat in order to get the idea of hat mechanics... however, I ended up finding it charming and dainty, so I went ahead and sewed on some pearls...

It reminds me of the little hats women would wear during the Victorian era... too bad it doesn't go with anything I own!

Oh well, I still find it charming...

Here it is!

Sorry i couldn't get any other photos... my camera is apparently refusing to give up any more of them! *sigh* technology... *shakes head*

It's cute! It's a ...hatling?

It makes me think of a little bird's nest with teeny white eggs. Very cute!

They had little bitty mini-hats in fashion in the 40's, I think? or the Victorian Era? shoot. I'm trying to remember....I'll post a pic if I find one.

***Edit:

Oh, DUH, sorry! You mentioned the Vic. Era already! I'm coming off a really stressful annoying business meeting and being totally stupid right now.

very cute and very 1920's all you need to complete the outfit is a tight flat-to-the-head hair doo and a flapper dress.

It turned out great for a first model.

I LOVE THIS!!!!
High five to the other hooker on the boards! :D

I've actually been thinking about making similar hatlings.
Guess I better get on the ball!

P.S. How are you attaching it to your hair?
Hair clips?

Bobby pins... they hide really easily in the yarn, where a hair clip wouldn't... plus, I found it to be the easiest way to get in to stay without having to mess up my hair in the process... :)
