Is it just Georgia or are any other states in the U.S. suffering from gas shortages?

Dude, the other day my boy and I had to go to 5 different gas stations to get gas.
SC is definately suffering.

In Western NC it's not a gas shortage. We simply have no gas whatsoever. I've heard about riots in some of the sleepiest towns in the mountains....
I was talking to someone from elsewhere who said we should all just use public transportation, in fact, we should have been doing that all along, that or walking because it's "more green"
Yeah right. The bus doesn't come anywhere within 15 miles of my place. And there is no way I'm walking over the Blue ridge mountains to get to the grocery store.........
All that to say, it's not just Georgia. NC's gotten hit pretty hard as well.

haha that'd get you some exercise though!
I haven't been out today or really yesterday, due to being incredibly sick, but I don't think the gas shortage/non existence has let up any. The other day, every single BP we passed was completely dry.

Shortages haven't crept this far north yet...I'm in WV but the price bounces wildly. It is anywhere from $3.85 to $4.25 depending on where you go and the day of the week. Those prices are for regular unleaded. I usually end up hopping the border while I'm at school and buying my gas in VA since it is on average 4-20 cents cheaper and I'm there anyway.
Hope the shortages don't migrate any further. I'm having a hard enough time keeping gas in the big green mom wagon as it is.

why is there a petrol shortage in the states? there is enough reserves to last ten years i thought. when is the american elections happening? there was a debate between the two main characters in nc the other day. not being a conspiracy theorist, but how coincidental it would be for one to affect the other.

I thnk that the shortages in the southeast are due mostly to the hurricanes that they've been having...well mostly the flooding and such...I think there is a refining plant or something in TX that they had to shut down cause of the flooding and evacutations. so I THINK it shouldn't last long.....unless it's a conspiricy thing...in which case we're all screwed!!

It's because of the hurricane that hit the Texas coast. We were expecting a shortage for a few days because they needed to shut down production in preparation for the storm, but my understanding is that at that point the electricity down there went out, completely shutting down production.
Unfortunately, most of NC, SC, & GA are supplied from Texas. And even once the lines are going 100%, the gas has to be shipped up here, a rather long process. Then some (not all) people panicked and began stocking up.
Supposedly the lines are now fine again, but there were a lot of people entirely out of fuel (think cars on the side of the highway), so we still have to get to that back to normal.
Hopefully after that, things should start to even out....

No shortage in Cali. In fact, prices went down a little bit. That isn't top say that they still aren't insanely high, though.
I hope everyone's fuel gets back to normal (a.k.a. readily available & extremely cheap ;)) soon.

You guys are lucky, at the moment on a really good day over here(aus) it would be around 4.5 to 5 a gallon. On the plus side have started catching the bus a lot more

With us here (as I think has been said before) sometimes it's not even the price that's crazy, just that there is NO gas at all.
But I definitely feel for you that gas is expensive. :( It sucks when necessary things gut your wallet. But isn't it true that most stuff is more expensive over there?
